Image of people standing in front of Paxton Street HomeWelcome! We're glad you're visiting our website. As you'll soon learn, Paxton Ministries is a place of hope and healing for many people.

Come on in and browse around. For a detailed list of what there is to see, check out our site map.

Paxton Ministries is a Christian Ministry overseen by an interdenominational Board of Trustees. Our Executive Director, Chris Book, is in his 20th year with the ministry (his 18th as Executive Director).

We operate two homes providing long-term, affordable housing, food and support to low income and disadvantaged adults (primarily Mental Health/Mental Retardation clients). We have never turned anyone away because of lack of income.

Our main home is the Paxton Street Home (pictured above), a Personal Care Home. This large, three-story brick building is located at 2001 Paxton Street in Harrisburg (click here for directions). Eighty-three residents and some of our staff and their children, live together in this facility (formerly known as Messiah Home from 1936-1977). We also operate the Hudson Street Apartments, a small apartment building in Harrisburg housing five additional residents and a staff family.

Opening in September of this year will be our third and newest facility, The Boaz Street Community Lodge. This private house will be home to five residents living totally independant. More details will be forth coming, including the date of our open house celebration.

At Paxton Ministries, we receive funding from occupancy fees, individual donations, local churches and businesses, foundation grants and county funding.
