He Leadeth Me
By Diana Cline

"As a ministry, we depend on God for our daily strength, wisdom and guidance."

It is hard for me to believe that when I came to volunteer at Paxton Street Home, I would still be here eighteen years later. Before I came I remember praying to God, "Lord, my deepest desire is to serve you." Over time, He taught me that I not only serve Him but also am served by those around me. Of course, when I prayed this prayer I did not know where He would lead me. Today, I say along with other members in our community, "I know without a doubt, the Lord led me here."

In times of the storms and valleys of life, Paxton Street Home embraces those in need who also embrace me. To recognize that I am a person in need enables me to rest in the Lord and allow Him to lead me.

One of the foundational values of the ministry is staff devotions. Each morning, He leads me to a place where I can join with members to worship and praise Him and lift our prayers to Him. As a ministry, we depend on God for our daily strength, wisdom and guidance. But even more important are my personal devotions. It is from this time with Him that I am prepared and humbled to follow Him from the place of still waters to a place of service.

I have learned from year to year, place to place and moment to moment. I can say along with the psalmist, "The Lord is my Shepherd...surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" (Psalms 23) because He leadeth me.
