True Servants: Our Staff
Hi!
I'm Chris Book, Executive Director of Paxton Ministries. I'm pleased that
you are taking the time to learn more about Paxton Ministries by browsing
our website. I, along with my wife Marlys, have served at Paxton Ministries
for the past 23 years. I became Administrator of Paxton Street Home in
1987 (my title was recently changed to Executive Director). My experience
growing up on the mission field, and later serving as a missionary to
Zambia, Africa, prepared me for a life of service. However, the past 23
years at Paxton Ministries has been a wonderful learning and growing experience.
I'm pleased to introduce you to the people
I spend my life with, our staff. Leading a bible study, praying for someone,
cleaning up after a meal for 100 people, working an evening duty and securing
the building...all of these are regular responsibilities of our staff,
no matter what position, in addition to our primary job responsibilities.
On a typical weekend you might find me painting a room, or our Director
of Maintenance making pizza for the entire community, or a kitchen worker
taking a group of residents on a van trip.
Operating Paxton Street Home on a daily
basis takes a community effort: staff, volunteers, residents, prayer partners,
local social workers, financial supporters, and Board members are all
involved.
And our staff is at the center of the
action. Simply put, service at Paxton Ministries is a life-style committment
and their service is ministry in action. It is with great joy that I introduce
you to this committed group of individuals.
